Vital 5 Announces the 2009 Arbitrary Art Grant in Dance!

We realize that art grants often ask you to jump through a few hoops and make you do things that you normally wouldn’t do. So when constructing our new Arbitrary Art Grant in dance, it just seemed to make sense to ask you to dance like you were being shot at. Bang! Bang! Bang! Dance I said! Bang, bang, bang! Let’s see those feet move! Like in Bugs Bunny cartoons. Like in spaghetti westerns. But put the task in front of artists, and I think a whole new interpretation of “dance like you are being shot at” will emerge. That is the only direction that we are giving, and we look forward to your entries.

To maximize public access and ease of submitting, please create your video and post directly to Youtube. If you title your video piece “Arbitrary Art Grant in Dance” we will find you. You are always welcome to burn it onto a dvd and mail us a copy, if that makes more sense. This is an international art grant, open to all people in all places, of all ages and skill levels- basically anyone that can get their hands on a video camera.

Good luck, and please, stay away from REAL guns. In no way are we asking you to shoot at each other. That would win you a different award, one called Darwin.
